Scottish Ensemble with Pieter Wispelwey, cello Vivaldi - Concerto for strings in G minor RV 156 Sibelius - Impromptu Aulis Sallinen - Chamber Music VIII op 94 for violoncello and strings (UK premiere) Vivaldi - Concerto for violoncello and strings in B minor RV 424 Enescu - Octet in C op 7 (arr for string orchestra) In this opening concert of the 2010-11 season, the Scottish Ensemble welcomes world famous cellist Pieter Wispelwey, playing Vivaldi's B minor Cello Concerto and a new work by the veteran Finnish composer, Aulis Sallinen.
